Action Short Description
Volunteer doctors of almost all specialties, as well as dentists (internists, pediatricians, surgeons, gynecologists, dermatologists, cardiologists, ophthalmologists, orthopedists, radiologists, pulmonologists, ENT, psychiatrists, neurologists) provide primary medical and dental care. In addition, there is the possibility for patients to have free laboratory tests through referrals to partner institutions. The Social Service aims to address the social problems and difficulties of both the people who are accommodated in the structures of Médecins du Monde and those who are referred to it through the Open Polyclinics. The Psychological Support Department consists of volunteer psychologists and aims to provide psychological support and counselling to vulnerable social groups in the context of a targeted and short-term (6 months to 12 months) intervention
Short Description of Institute
Médecins du Monde - Greece (MdM - Greece), founded in 1990, is a medical, humanitarian Non-Governmental Organization, member of the International Network of MdM, which consists of 17 delegations. MdM's guiding principle is that every human being has the right to humanitarian assistance, regardless of gender, origin, sexual orientation, religion, ideology or political belief. Accordingly, Médecins du Monde operates on the principles of neutrality and impartiality. However, the fact that they maintain their neutrality does not prevent them from speaking openly about human rights abuses when they themselves witness them.
